Kanji List for Naming

According to 'Article 50 of the Family Register Law' and 'Article 60 of the Family Register Law Enforcement Regulations', the characters that can be used for Japanese names include hiragana, katakana, kanji from the Jōyō Kanji List, and kanji from the Jinmeiyō Kanji List. There are also a few symbols that can be used as exceptions.

Currently, there are 2,999 kanji, which include both Jōyō kanji and Jinmeiyo kanji(name-specific kanji). The list can be found below.
