Kanji List for Naming from the 'JLPT N1' Level

Here is a list of kanji by level for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), with N5 being the easier level and N1 being the harder level.

Note: In the old testing system, the kanji for each level were officially published. However, since the transition to the new testing system in 2010, the list of kanji has not been published. (The reasons for this are explained in questions 15 and 16 on page 63 of this JLPT guidebook.)
Therefore, the following is not based on the current exam. Please refer to the following for reference only.
